The City of Austin's face mask mandate went into effect on June 17 at 11:59 PM. All commercial entities are required to ensure all workers and visitors(customers) wear face masks except under certain circumstances such as if the person is alone in a single space, is only with members of their own household, or when doing so poses a physical health risk to the individual. Businesses have until June 23 to come up with a plan to implement this new policy. Another Texas city, Dallas has also mandated face masks in business settings which will go into effect at 6pm on June 19.
